"After crossing over a breath-taking mountain range, we descended slightly until we happened upon the Medicine Bow Lodge. Driving in, we realized this place was going to be perfect. A mini-mountain loomed right behind the main lodge and a mountain stream gushed by the back door. Over the stream was a bridge that led to a tree swing and hiking trails. OH-the smell of mountain air! The "Red Ant" real log cabin we lodged in was really cute and had two bedrooms adjoined with two doors, each room having 2 double beds and a full bath. The main lodge was really pretty with it's logs and chinking...rock fireplace in the huge living room...game room, movie room, big dining room...all decorated in that wonderful western lodge look one hopes to find in the mountains.
Our family of six was treated so kindly & patiently by the owners and their family/staff. We were waited on hand and foot so it really felt like a restful time for me-Mom.
We spent our days riding twice-once after breakfast(eggs,bacon,pancakes,french toast, OJ, coffee, homemade cinnamin rolls ect) then once after lunch-equally filling and always with homemade breads...
We learned to ride horses here! We were treated to pasture rides through gorgeous wildflowers and more challenging mountain rides through snow...
Then dinner! Awesome dishes! Debbie's homemade lasagna is what I miss now.
