"Like so many things and places on Hilton Head Island, this is just another expensive tourist area. They nail you for a buck everytime you use the cross-island expressway, then Sea Pines Plantation charges you five bucks for a one-day pass, just for riding on their roads. Finally, you end up at Harbour Town, with its limited parking and high priced little gift shops. If you want to climb up to the top of the lighthouse, that is another two bucks. I think all of Hilton Head Island is a waste of time. It is nothing but a playground for the rich and famous. I never before saw so many gated and guarded private communities concentrated in one small island." - a Tripadvisor user
