We've lived in San Diego for the past eight years and visited many hiking trails, but nothing compares to Cowles Mountain. This 1.5 mile hike can be quite challenging, given the incline and rocky terrain. But if you are in moderately decent physical shape...

DIRECTIONS
From East: Jackson Drive to Mission Gorge Road, turn right (North). Proceed 1/4 mile to Father Junipero Serra Trail (FJST), turn left. Turn left into the driveway to the parking lot just before the pipe gate across FJST. From Hwy 52: Take Mast Blvd. exit. Left to West Hills Parkway. Right to Mission Gorge Road. Right apx. 2 miles Father Junipero Serra Trail (FJST), turn right. Turn left into the driveway to the parking lot just before the pipe gate across FJST.

Visitor Center 9am-5pm daily (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day); Park gates 8am-5pm (winter); 8am-7pm (summer)
