Collections: Home to one of the most significant historic ship collections in the world. The Star of India is recognized internationally as the world's oldest active ship and one of our community's most cherished icons. The Berkeley, like the Star, is both a state and national historic landmark and is possibly the best preserved example of a 19th century steamship in existence. The 1904 steam yacht Medea is not only San Diego's official ambassadorial vessel, but is also the last operational combat vessel to have fought in the first battle of the Atlantic in 1917. The recently restored Pilot, of 1914, is a wonderful piece of San Diego's maritime history about to embark on a new career as an educational vessel. Our newest vessel, Californian, is a replica of the ship that brought law and order to the California coast during the gold rush. Californian is also the State of California's official tall ship.
