The romantic history of Seaford, Delaware dates back to 6,000 years ago when the Nanticoke Indians occupied the area around the Nanticoke River. Then in 1608, the European explorer, Captain John Smith arrived and this heralded many radical changes in the area. There was a bitter division within the Seaford community during the Civil War but the city was later unified and incorporated as a town in 1865. Today, Seaford is a major destination for romantic getaways. There are many Seaford romantic hotels as well as romantic places to visit.
