Santa Clara was a hamlet in 1846 when California was annexed by the United States after the Mexican-American War. Then in 1852, it was incorporated as a city. Since then, the Santa has seen a steady economic growth. The economy faltered a little during the Great Depression but the city rapidly recovered after the Second World War. It became highly industrialized and today, it is the home of the largest electronics companies. For people who are on family vacations in Santa Clara, the three major places to go are the California’s Great America, the Intel Museum, and the Artsopolis.
California’s Great America is more than just an amusement park with water rides and slides. It has thrill ride called Firefall and it has an Ice Show Spectacular. But this park is not open 365 days a year so the family must first check the park’s schedule before heading out to it. The Intel Museum is a testament to Santa Clara’s leadership role in the electronics industry. In this museum, the kids will not only learn from but be entertained by Arti, the artificial intelligence robot. The family shouldn’t be surprised to see that most Santa Clara hotels carry this electronics theme. And finally, the Artsopolis showcases the arts of this Silicon Valley Region.
