Perhaps one of the kids has a strong fascination for butterflies. A certain species called “Monarch Butterfly” migrates in thousands in order to avoid the cold winter temperatures. These Monarch butterflies usually cluster around the pine and eucalyptus trees in several areas in Pacific Grove, a historic city in California. The display of these thousands of Monarchs, particularly in the area near Lighthouse Avenue, is simply amazing. This earned Pacific Grove the name of “Butterfly City, USA.” For this and many other reasons, the city of Pacific Grove can be the place to go for the next family vacation.
On the question of where to stay, the Pacific Grove boasts of numerous historic bed and breakfasts but there are also as many Pacific Grove family hotels. For example, the family can stay in Andril Fireplace Cottages where there will be Family suites that separate cottages with full-sized and fully-equipped kitchens, private decks, and of course, a burning fireplace. The city has a downtown that has been nicknamed as “America’s Last Hometown” by the Via Magazine. From downtown, the family can easily access the many attractions of the Peninsula, such as the Cannery Row, the Fisherman’s Wharf, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
