Sharing part of its name with the famous vacation resort on the other Big Island, Kailua Kona is frequented by families and couples during the summer, although spring is the most opportune time to visit.  Surrounded by a beautiful bay and several country clubs, Kailua Kona is quieter than other Hawaiian towns, making this town more ideal for families and couples for any vacation, big or small. 

Offering many kid friendly attractions within a short distance, the most kid freindly lodging exists in downtown Kailua Kona.  Just within reach of several family restaurants, name-brand hotels and motels line the city streets with pricing usually under $120 a night.  Some hotels have water parks for kids to play in while adults relax in the sun.

For lodging that accommodates adults, romantic lodging outside of Kailua Kona offers the best views of the nearby Pacific.  Prices are over $150 in most parts, but these hotels are stocked with romantic amenities, and if you ask, a complimentary bottle of champagne.  The bay is the biggest attraction here, providing quiet romance during the late evening hours.
