Milford, Delaware

Milford, Delaware Hotels, Things to do, and Vacation Information.

The City of Milford in Delaware is known as the “Garden City of Twin Counties.” Undoubtedly, when travelers take Milford vacations, they will find themselves surrounded by one of the country’s loveliest parks. There is the Holiday Stroll which is found in downtown Milford. And there is a Historic Victorian District on Main Street. Therefore, if the travelers wanted to be surrounded by the historic ambience of Milford, a good place to look for Milford hotels and accommodations is the downtown. But once in Milford, the travelers will quickly learn that a major factor in the progress of this city is the Mispillion River. When the city is just a few years shy of the 19th century, a dam was built across the Mispillion River. The construction of the dam, which was led by Reverend Sydenham Thorne, led to the generation of power that will support Thorne’s sawmill and gristmill. Soon after, the city’s population rose meteorically along with the increase of banks and other industries. Today, Milford, with its host of attractions situated in downtown, is considered a Crown Jewel of Southern Delaware. In downtown, the travelers can begin a fun Mispillion Riverwalk or enjoy the music from the park. If the Milford vacations happen to be in April through October, the travelers can check out the Farmers Market, where organically grown agricultural products are sold.
