Idaho Springs, Colorado

Idaho Springs, Colorado Hotels, Things to do, and Vacation Information.

Idaho Springs, Colorado is a cozy historic town 30 miles west of Denver.  Founded in the 1850s by gold prospectors, the town evolved into the tourist center it is today.  There are a variety of things to do here.  We recommend you get to know the area by a walk through downtown.  You will find a national historic district here, through which you can do self-guided or guided tours amidst the Victorian architecture.  For a kid friendly adventure, take a tour of the Phoenix Gold Mine.  This mine has been seen in National Geographic, and will take visitors on a detailed ride back in time to the days of gold.  The hand panning for gold at the end of the tour is an enjoyable experience for kids.

For outdoor adventures, we recommend the Van Eden Ranch for horseback rides, or a scenic drive on the highest paved road in North America, the Mount St. Evans scenic byway.  14,264 feet high, you will have breathtaking views of the land.  For a romantic getaway, stay at the Indian Springs Resort.  The geo-thermal cave baths filled with naturally hot mineral water, are a relaxing way to begin your stay.  The two of you can enjoy the outdoor jacuzzis together, or rent a private indoor bath.  We recommend a real mud bath during your stay.  This mineral rich clay softens skin and hair, and detoxifies the skin.  An Idaho Springs vacation will be an unforgettable getaway.
