The City of Baldwin Park is located in the San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles County, east of L.A. itself. We enjoyed our stay at the Marriott Courtyard Los Angeles at Baldwin. We found this lodging kid-friendly, comfortable, clean, and the on-site dining convenient, earning well deserved ratings by Travel Guides.
For art-lovers and political activists, the Indigenous Dances Metro Rail Center at the Civic Center is an unusually worthwhile stop! The “Danzas Indigenaz” arch, 400 sq ft floor design and benches send tribute to the native peoples of San Gabriel, and has drawn some immigration controversy as well.
Just 10 miles northwest of Baldwin Park, the Santa Anita Racetrack in Arcadia offers the excitement of thoroughbred racing. The historic track (oldest in Southern California) is highly rated, with races set against the picturesque backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains. Kids enjoy watching the early-morning work-out runs, and the track offers the finest winter-time horse-racing in the nation, hosting the prestigious Santa Anita Derby and Santa Anita Handicap.
Just north of the city limits, we recommend the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area for family-friendly outdoor activity. The kid-friendly water-play area is popular. Things-to-do include biking, hiking, and picnicking, fishing, swimming and sailing.
