Florida Beaches

As a peninsula, Florida has over 1100 miles of beaches to choose from. The waters are clear and very warm, so swimming, snorkeling and water sports activities are popular. The weather at the beaches is nearly always warm and humid during the summer, and thunder storms are common during the summer months. Whether you’re looking for a beach to relax on, play on or plan a wedding or honey moon around, Florida likely has just the beach you’re looking for. Some of Florida’s beaches rival the best of the Caribbean; if tall palm trees and white sands are what you want, consider Bahia Honda.

If you’re interested in snorkeling and surfing activities, we’d recommend you explore Sebastian Inlet State park. Beautiful sea shells can be found on Sanibel Island’s narrow beaches, and snorkeling and swimming can be enjoyed on Dry Tortugas Beach.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to be a sun worshipper to enjoy Florida’s Beaches, as areas like Miami and Daytona Beach offer a host of other activities near the beach to enjoy.

Florida Family Beaches

There is no shortage of activities for families on Florida’s beaches. Whether you’re looking for snorkeling, water sports, top-notch hotels, shopping or shell collecting, chances are Florida has just the beach you’re looking for.

Florida is famous for its sunny weather and clear, warm waters which are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. On Daytona Beach, kids and adults can take eco-education excursions on the Halifax River, where fun and learning can be had all in one afternoon. Sanibel Island has beautiful, soft white sand and shallow water that’s great for small kids to splash around in, and adults can enjoy the golf and shopping, which are only steps away.

Florida’s beaches also offer a wide variety of upscale hotels and resorts which have activities for all ages, from swimming lessons to pampered afternoons at the day spa. Many hotels offer baby sitting services so that parents can enjoy and evening or afternoon alone as well.

Florida Romantic Beaches

Florida’s peninsula and islands have miles of beautiful beaches for couples to choose from. If your idea of romance is fun activities and sight seeing, we’d recommend Florida’s South Beach. Colorful Art Deco buildings and aquamarine waters allow for enjoyable days and nights spent exploring and relaxing. If you’re looking for more secluded romance, we’d suggest Blind Pass Beach on Sanibel Island just off Florida’s western coast. Quaint cottages and small crowds mean lots of private time. Siesta Key Public Beach is a very wide, flat beach with very soft, white sand. The water here is shallow and gently slopes into deeper water, and couples can enjoy fun snorkeling and other water activities. Captiva Island’s exclusive beachfront resorts offer personalized amenities and privacy and are a favorite choice for weddings and honeymoons. Its narrow beaches are also perfect for shell collecting.

Florida Dog Friendly Beaches

Florida is a moderately dog friendly state, and its beaches are no exception. If you’re considering taking your pooch to Florida’s beaches, we’d suggest you look into the east coast of Southern Florida, the west coast above Collier county and especially the Florida Keys. These areas have beaches which have acceptances ranging from allowing dogs on leashes to allowing dogs playing by themselves in the water. The best dog friendly areas make it easy for owners by providing fresh water and scoopers to take care of and clean up after pets.

Miami Beach is a popular area for dogs and their owners, and there are fenced-off areas where dogs can run about leash free. Running water is even provided in some areas for thirsty pooches to drink. Bark Park in Ft. Lauderdale is a medium-sized park you can take your dog to play and socialize.
