After reading about how SF zoo was rated one of the top 6 in the nation, I was really looking forward to visiting. What a disappointment! First off, we took public transportation to get there. What an adventure. Make sure you have a good map with you...

DIRECTIONS
The San Francisco Zoo is located on the Great Highway, between Skyline and Sloat Blvds., next to the Pacific Ocean. The parking lot has two entrances, one off of the Great Highway for people driving from the East Bay and South Bay, and one off of Sloat Blvd. at 47th Avenue for those driving from the North Bay. There is also street parking along Sloat Blvd. The Zoo encourages you to use public transportation. Within San Francisco, take the Muni L Taraval line outbound to the Zoo. Muni bus lines 23 and 18 also stop at the Zoo. Use the 511 TakeTransit Trip Planner for door-to-door directions by entering your starting address and "SF Zoo" for your destination address. Guests who take Muni to the Zoo will receive $1.00 off the price of admission.

The Zoo reserves the right to limit attendance on Free Days in the best interest of the animals. We recommend that you take public transportation because parking is limited. GROUP RATES The Zoo allows free admission for a variety of San Francisco-based school groups, child centers, Recreation and Park Department sponsored groups and some non-profit organizations. For more information, or to find out if your group is eligible for free admission, call (415) 753-7057. Fees vary for organized groups of 10 or more persons. Interested parties must call the Zoo���s Visitor Services Department to make a reservation at (415) 753-7057. Non-Resident Group Rates Persons Age Rate Adults 18-64 $10.00 Youths 12-17 $7.50 Seniors 65 and over $7.00 Children 3-11 $4.00 Children 2 and under Free SCHOOL GROUP ADMISSION San Francisco school groups receive free admission to the Zoo throughout the year. Please call Guest Services at (415) 753-7057 to make a reservation. For special Docent-guided tours (available July through April), call the Education Department at (415) 753-7122 to arrange the guided tour. For school groups from outside San Francisco, the Zoo offers discounted group admission. Children (3 years old to 6th grade): $3.00 Grades 7 to 12: $4.50 Teachers and Chaperones Teachers and chaperones at a one-to-five student ratio pay the same price as the children they are accompanying. Additional adults pay $8.00. College/University students (on an official class list): $8.00 STROLLER RENTALS Single and double strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, and electric scooters are available for daily rental at the Entry Village.
