THINGS TO DO

  1. Santa Rita Abbey
"I loved every minute I was there. The prayer and community life of the sisters touched me deeply. I will never forget them and my experience with them. They live in my heart each day." - a Yahoo user
  2. Sonoita Vineyards
"If you find yourself in southern Arizona, a trip through Arizona's wine country is a pleasant surprise. Beautiful rolling hills, quaint small town charm and pleasant temperatures that the high elevation affords. I just visited the Sonointa Veneyards in Elgin, and what a nice place! A modest fee ($3.00...and you get to keep the souvenir glass!) will get you up to 8 tastings. They also do organized tours, and rent out the beautiful facility for affairs. Check out their web site ------, and look for their upcoming schedule of events. There is a spacious patio with picnic tables, so if you pack a lunch, you can enjoy it while sipping your wine and looking at the gorgeous scenery. This winery, along with another just down the road, is located off AZ state rt 82....which will also take you to Tombstone further east, and Nogales (Mx and AZ) further SW. If you're heading down from tucson, it should be less than an hours drive down AZ 83 (a scenic highway through the Santa Rita mountains). The tiny town of Sonoita also has a restaurant, gas station and some other businesses located at the jct of rts 83 and 82." - a Tripadvisor user
