  3. Open Road Tours
"We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight trip to the Grand Canyon with Open Road Tours. The tour company was very efficient, everything went to plan; pick up times, the hotel reservation they made on our behalf, etc, and the guides were friendly and informative. We were picked up by Open Road Tours at our hotel in Flagstaff, accompanied by people doing their day trip. We were dropped off at the rim of the canyon at lunch time. We were then picked up the next day from our hotel and joined the day tour again, en route back to Flagstaff. I would recommend doing the overnight tour if you can afford it, as I don't think you would get enough time to appreciate the Canyon properly on the day tour alone. The overnight tour was fantastic as we had half a day to ourselves at the Canyon which enabled us to watch the sunset, and to walk along the rim for several miles beforehand in a secluded area away from the crowds. We also had the opportunity to watch the Grand Canyon IMAX film, which was visually stunning, and went on the optional extra helicoptor flight over the canyon, which left us speechless, it was so amazing. One thing to note about the overnight tour is that you don't actually stay at the rim, but in a little place called Tusayan about 5 miles away, but there is a 24 hour taxi service run by Zanterra at a reasonable price. In addition when you visit the Navajo Trading Post check that what you're buying is authentic American Indian as we came across several things made in Germany and China!" - a Tripadvisor user
