Jackson is a relatively small town with few choices on accommodations, the majority of which is on College Avenue. However, Jackson accommodations, in terms of amenities and services, are at par with the best in the world. Thus, when the urban family decides to have a Jackson vacation, there will be less worry on where to stay. In terms of food, there are numerous Jackson restaurants that will satisfy everyone’s taste buds. There are buffets, pizzas, take-outs, fast foods, coffee shops, Mexican, Chinese, and seafood restaurants.

With lodgings and food ensured, the family can focus on the things to do in Jackson. This town is the preferred destination for people who wanted to spend many hours outside. There is the HW Pearce, Jr. Memorial Park at the center of downtown. It has a 9-hole golf course as well as picnic grounds, volleyball court, basketball court, tennis courts, and table tennis tables. The best feature of the park is the Pearce Pool. There is a section for young swimmers and another section for advanced swimmers. There are 3 piers, slides, and diving boards. Outside of downtown, there are more outdoor attractions. There is the Lock One Island and Park, which is off Highway 69 and right in the middle of Jackson and Coffeeville. This park features a boat landing, bank fishing grounds, a pavilion, and roughing-it campsites. Then, about 12 miles south of downtown, there is the Fred T. Stimpson wildlife Sanctuary. It is a 5,500-acre land that protects wildlife. This area is a paradise for both amateur and professional photographers.
