There is the HW
Pearce, Jr. Memorial Park at the center of downtown. It has a 9-hole golf
course as well as picnic grounds, volleyball court, basketball court, tennis
courts, and table tennis tables. The best feature of the park is the Pearce
Pool. There is a section for young swimmers and another section for advanced
swimmers. There are 3 piers, slides, and diving boards. Outside of downtown,
there are more outdoor attractions. There is the Lock One Island and Park,
which is off Highway 69 and right in the middle of Jackson and Coffeeville.
This park features a boat landing, bank fishing grounds, a pavilion, and
roughing-it campsites. Then, about 12 miles south of downtown, there is the Fred T. Stimpson
wildlife Sanctuary. It is a 5,500-acre land that protects wildlife. This
